The Gift of a Child

To have a relationship with someone as pure and sinless as a child is a blessing from Allah. To be there and mean something to them is a privilege.

Allah granting us this gift easily does not mean it is any less of a privilege.

Perhaps that is why the job of parenting or being a guardian of a child or being in professions like teaching children is from the most honourable things you can do.

In the same light, it is why, wronging the child in these roles can be from the worst things one can do. To be given a special place to a being so pure and special and yet misuse it is a grave sin.

The child may be taken for granted, being thought that he has no choice but to remain as and where he is. Yet, it is forgotten that with authority comes great responsibility. What we take care of is an amanah and everything in the universe belongs, directly, to Allah. Not us, even if we birthed it.

The child is a gift— whether those around him or her have the capacity to see it or not.
