“Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to do something to benefit you– you would never get any benefit except that Allah had written for you. And if they were to gather to do something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allah had written for you. The pens are lifted and the pages are dried.”
At-Tirmidhi
These words the Prophet (sal) shared with young Ibn Abbas (ral) have been on my mind these few days. There is a surreal feeling in learning ahadeeth when you are young, only to find yourself living them years later—at the exact right time. Even the most creative novelist could not script how beautifully events unfold once they are decreed in the heavens. Perfect timing. Minimal movement on your part except for sincere intention, effort within your capacity, and patience. A great deal of patience.
It makes you realise the weight of being accepted in the heavens; of being known there, of your voice being recognised above. This stands in stark contrast to how the world obsessively demands being heard by the world. The two are not the same.
It also sharpens your awareness of the importance of continuously renewing good intentions. As it is said: keep making good niyyah. You remain in goodness so long as you do. I feel that mastering this alone opens an entirely new realm of understanding and healing.
In cases of scapegoating, this hadeeth becomes grounding. It confirms a deep truth: there is nothing they can truly do. As long as you maintain tawakkul in Allah, combine it with honest effort and patience. The outcome is already guarded.
Yes, they may cut short opportunities in appearance. But as you continue walking, everything begins to work for you often in ways far more beautiful than you ever imagined.
Ultimately, it is a matter of faith. So take up faith fully and ascend, high and strong.
