دِين قويم A Balanced Religion; Measured and Purposeful Feelings

The challenges in the life of a believer, even though difficult, are timely reminders that if we are to go fully into something, it should be only for His Sake. Otherwise, it will be in vain. It will be a waste of our time, and its results will not satisfy our hearts. All desires are directed to Allah Alone. These challenges, sometimes shaking our core, help to see life and its events with a fresh perspective that we may not have used to seeing through before them. We would not have been able to let go of particular people, things or places had it not been for these trials. We simply would not have the capacity to do it ourselves.

People vary in how much they keep up with steering their lives to Allah. Sometimes insan forgets, wanders, and comes back again. Some become lost for a longer time, too, until they are forced to return. The ones most relentless in the pursuit of their Lord’s Countenance and most heedful of this one true goal in their lives are the most fortunate.

Proverbs borrowed from Western and Oriental literature don’t stand, for a significant part, in Islam. This is because blind submission and unconditional love for anyone or anything dear— philosophies that each talk about and promote are foreign to this Deen. Purposefulness binds Islam’s principles. Everything and everyone fall under Allah’s Laws. It is not a harsh truth. It is simply the only truth. And for a traveller in this journey of life, it is a safety net in what he endeavours. When life’s happenings suck us in and the need to impress slowly builds up or we bind to another’s acceptance, love or company more than we should, Allah’s Reminders are a gift we did not realise how much we needed.

The ones most relentless in the pursuit of their Lord’s Countenance and most heedful of this one true goal in their lives are the most fortunate.
