Limbs broken. Hands and faces scraped. Tears in their eyes. And very, very tired faces. Blood. Blood everywhere. I read that Gaza has the most number of child amputees. What are you doing? Why are you leaving us in this state? Our internal organs hanging out? Our hair greying before age?
When you witness the atrocities day after day, you feel very low. Very, very low and sad and almost a feeling of…defeat. Not in the sense of doubting in ultimate victory or Divine Promises but in the way of shock and heartbreak and just feeling very low. Thoughts of…what is happening?? Blowing our limbs off? Preventing medicine from reaching us? Blowing us apart in areas you said were safe? Until our body parts are strewn across the place? And burying our children in polythene bags? Like, what even is happening? What are you even doing to us?
It is always in moments like this, moments of utter confusion and shock, that miracles and marvels are born. When the oppression becomes extremely ugly, and you are just standing there, speechless. These moments carry a lot more than what meets the eye. The beauty of your impending victory will depend on how patient and faithful you are. Mercy and Pleasure and Gardens of Delight are brought closer to us by how we think of Allah deep in our hearts in these critical moments. So persevere, O Follower of the Prophet (sal). The tide is about to turn.
(Al Baqarah:214)
Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, “When (will come) the Help of Allah?” Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!
